Trade Counter Assistant

We’re looking for a friendly, hands-on Trade Counter Assistant to join our team at Ermin Tool & Plant Hire. You will be required to support the depot manager in all responsibilities at the depot. The role includes a mixture of practical jobs and paperwork.
Hours: 7.30am-5pm Mon-Fri
Saturdays: 8am-12pm on a rotational basis Saturdays paid at time and a half

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve and support customers at the trade counter with a professional and helpful attitude
  • Advise customers on our wide range of small tools and consumable items
  • Assist with maintaining Ermin fleet
    Support the Depot Manager with day-to-day operations
  • Answer phone calls and emails from customers, suppliers & colleagues.
  • Create hire contract paperwork
  • Offer customer repairs where required
  • Assist with various tasks around the depot, including stock management and preparing equipment for hire
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment
  • On occasions deliver equipment to site using company van
  • Work as part of a team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations

What We’re Looking For:

  • Confident and friendly communicator with a helpful approach
  • Interest or experience in tools, construction, or DIY
  • Willingness to get involved in all aspects of depot work
  • A team player who’s reliable, punctual, and keen to learn
  • Previous experience in a trade counter, retail or customer-facing role is a bonus, but not essential
  • Full clean UK driving licence

Customer Service Advisor

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Customer Service Representative to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for our clients, providing exceptional service and support. You will be responsible for addressing customer inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive experience and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and the ability to analyse customer needs effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with customers and suppliers via phone calls and email, understanding their needs and ensuring a high level of customer service and maximising business opportunities.
  • Communicate with a variety of visitors to the office including drivers, operators, third parties and colleagues from other departments.
  • Actively contact current customers and previous customers of the business to ensure that Ermin services are being utilised and to ensure that customers are happy with Ermin’s service levels.
  • Creating hire contracts and preparing invoices.
  • Prepare and issue quotes for customers.
  • Advanced understanding and problem solving in the systems used.
  • Assist with mid-month and month end invoice runs.

  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to react to changing demands in a professional manner.
  • Ability to deliver an excellent customer experience both internal and external in line with the Ermin Company values in everything you do.
  • Willingness to learn the industry and Ermin’s services and equipment in a timely manner.
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative style.
