Overview

The objective of this Excavator Training course is to deliver comprehensive theoretical and practical training, ensuring the safe utilisation of excavators. This course covers the proficient operation of both wheeled or tracked excavators, catering for potential Digger operators or for those who may need recertification. Upon successfully completing this Excavator Training Course, participants will be awarded the relevant trained operator card or certification, signifying their competence in excavator operation. If you complete training in the above 10 tonne category you will automatically qualify for under 10 tonne but not vice versa.

This 360 Excavator training and Certification is for Plant Operators who need practical and theory training and assessment in order to fulfil their job role.

What will you learn?

This 360 Excavator Training spends time developing skills and knowledge associated with the use of an excavator in the workplace, also to prepare the candidate to sit and pass, the required Theory and Practical Tests.

What's Covered

  • Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a plant operator.
  • Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used.
  • Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
  • Be able to locate and identify steering, driving and hydraulic controls and explain their functions.
  • Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for excavator use.
  • Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.
  • Safely mount and dismount the machine.
  • Start and stop the engine and safely move the machine off and stop it safely.
  • Configure the machine for travel and manoeuvre it safely across varying terrain in open and confined areas.
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area.
  • Manoeuvre the machine to the work area and correctly configure in readiness to carry out excavating tasks.
  • Carry out excavating tasks.
  • Reinstate excavation, grade and level ground. Fit and remove attachments.
  • Carry out all end of shift and shut down procedures.
