Overview

Plant Marshals play a crucial role within the operations of moving and controlling vehicles and plant on site. The role of the vehicle marshal is to maintain contact with the driver whilst using correct hand signals whilst a vehicle is being manoeuvred. Plant Marshals are required to work in accordance with the relevant legislation and standards. Our Plant Marshal Training Course is necessary for anyone designated as a vehicle marshal or traffic marshal responsible for directing vehicles and ensuring the safety of workers, pedestrians, and drivers in and around the work site.

Plant Marshal Training is essential for anyone responsible for overseeing Plant movement on a work site. For example, individuals who work in construction, logistics, warehousing, event management, and other industries that involve the use of vehicles.

What's Covered

  • Have a basic understanding of the industry and the relevant legislation, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a plant marshal.
  • Have knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular vehicle/machine to be guided.
  • Have a good understanding of signs and signals, approved hand signals and different forms of communication.
  • Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for vehicle marshal duties.
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area including stop blocks and tipping areas.
  • Set up exclusion zone for loading and unloading.
  • Guide machinery in a forward and reverse direction including confined spaces and “blind areas” safely and efficiently.
  • Environmental considerations.
  • Carry out all end of shift and shut down and parking procedures.
